Lysistrata

Lysistrata started out as a project for an ISTD* submission which won a membership. The brief was to pick a book that sometime in history got banned for some reason and make a digital interpretation of it. I picked Lysistrata, an Ancient Greek comedy that tells the story of a woman, Lysistrata, and her extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian war. The book raises issues of war, peace and women’s rights; themes that are very relevant to today’s society. The story lives in an app with an interactive narrative. Adapting it to today’s digital era, the reader becomes a war activist and women’s rights advocate by ‘choosing’ which path our protagonist follows. The app provides the reader with questions and choices by which the answers determine the end of the story.

After the completion of the project I collaborated with other designers and developers to bring this project to life with more interactive books. The app can be found in the App Store.
